A museum for everyone starts with a website for everyone

New Discoveries Inc. wants every visitor to be able to read, navigate, and give on this site, whatever device or assistive technology they use. We work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

What we do: every page has a skip-to-content link, a logical heading structure, and visible keyboard focus. Images carry text alternatives. Forms have labels. Motion respects your reduced-motion setting. Text can be resized to 200 percent without loss of content.

Known limits: the 3D museum walkthrough and the artifact viewer are visual experiences that depend on WebGL and a pointer or touch. Each page describes in text what the experience contains, and the guided tour captions are readable by screen readers, but the 3D scenes themselves are not yet fully navigable by keyboard. We are working on it.

Video: our expedition footage is currently without narration or captions because it has no spoken content. When we publish video with speech, it will be captioned.
